[question]: Can you tell me what places a patient in “New”, “Pre-admit”, then “Admitted” status?
[answer]: When you add a patient record and complete the demographics screen, the patient has a NEW status; when you add the primary referral source, the patient has a PRE-ADMIT status; and when you 'confirm' the admission with the checkbox, the patient has an ADMIT status
[add’l comments / information]: All patient statuses are real-time -- as an example: if today is 05/13/2005 -- if you add a new patient record, enter a referral with a date of 05/14/2005 and enter an admission/SOC date of 05/15/2005 -- the patient status will be NEW today since the system date is 05/13/2005; tomorrow, the patient status will be PRE-ADMIT since the system date will be 05/14/2005 and the status record in effect for -5/14/2005 for the patient is a referral; on the following day, the patient status will be ADMIT since the system date will be 05/15/2005 and the status record in effect for 05/15/2005 for the patient is an admission/SOC. CarePortal always shows you the patient status as of "right now"
